New Girl => Great Show
I just want to point out that the currently running new comedy “New Girl” is fucking hilarious. Just a fucking off the hook smart comedy. I’ve read some reviews and they kinda rip on the guy characters but what the fuck do those guys know anyhow?
We watch each episode twice? Why because they are that fast and they are that funny. The writing is tight and the performance is...

Freedom by Jonathan Franzen My rating: 4 of 5 stars I have to say that while this wasn’t an uplifting book. I was warned by the book lady blog. It was still a very compelling read. I’d like to point out that I paid for it and read it on an eReader which I’m sure would make Mr. Franzen spin in his grave if he were in it. Happily he is not and I hope to read more of his work....

Dinner fail
So last night I made a “pot roast”. I put that in quotes because really it was more of a “crap roast”. The meat I chose was terrible, the potatoes and carrots didn’t get done and the gravy was to put mildly, “Weak Sauce.”
So hey I threw it out. The kids and frozen pizza and Jen and I scrounged around the kitchen for other stuff. I think she was more...

Corporate Training Could Learn a Lot.
I’ve been to my share of corporate training which include the usual ice breakers and trust exercises and slides. Lots of slides. Powerpoint is abundant. One time I went to one of these trainings for 4 all consuming days.
Yesterday I went in with a bunch of other semi strangers of various levels of experience ranging from full on professionals to people, like myself, with no formal training...

Breaking up programs
I often do small programming problems in Mathematica. The reason for this is I want to learn more about functional programing. Mathematica offers every kind of programming I’ve ever heard of. It also lets you mix them so it’s really very important to break things down first.
I happen to be working on #185 from projecteuler.net. It’s building a program that can play a game that...
Good Math/Bad Math 2nd law vs. Evolution →
This is a great explanation of the 2nd law of thermodynamics in the context of someone trying to argue against DNA being able to form via Evolution. Mark does an excellent job of dealing with the multiple holes in the assertion.

We’re a week into December and it’s time to laugh at people getting scared by a fake snowman. You might live in a city where it’s already begun to snow, and if Frosty’s evil twin suddenly jumped out at you with angry eyes, you’d be terrifi…
This is kinda wrong, yet still so funny.

I don't mind kids on planes
But parents please don’t be moronic assholes, K?
My flight to the east coast was something I couldn’t have come up with as fiction if I had tried. I’ll make this short as a long rant really isn’t needed. Imagine arriving at your seat on a fully sold out flight and seeing a 5 year old and an 8 year old in your row with no parent in sight. Yeah.
The 5 year old next to me...

(Creepy, right?)
Stranger, can you do simple math?
I will on occasion (read like all the fucking time much to the annoyance of my family) will interact with strangers. I walked into a restaurant last Wednesday before Max and I saw a concert and I asked for a table by saying, “There are two of us and we’re totally willing to sit with strangers.” The host lady (is it PC to say hostess anymore? maybe seater lady? dunno) responded,...
